Fortnite cars COUNTDOWN: When are cars in Fortnite? Release date, start time, cars list

That’s because there was a cars specific challenge for season 3 week 6 that had leaked – gas up a vehicle at Catty Corner.

However, once again that day came and went without a Fortnite cars launch – and later that day Epic Games confirmed cars were a few weeks away.

The official Fortnite Twitter at the time posted: “Our lawyers are currently sweating the policy details and fixing typos like ‘otter coverage’ instead of auto coverage.

“Due to this, many vehicles got taken for inspection.

“Expect a few weeks until we’re road ready.”

It had been thought that this meant Fortnite cars would be arriving in the next major patch, which is update 13.40.

And now Epic Games has confirmed that is the case, with the next Fortnite patch being dubbed the ‘JoyRide’ update.

The official Fortnite Twitter account has confirmed that the Fortnite cars feature will be launching on Wednesday August 5.

On Monday August 3 the @FortniteGame Twitter posted: “It’s not just a name. It’s a warning.

“Experience the #FortniteJoyRide Update on 8.5.2020”.

Alongside the tweet was a picture of one of the cars heading to Fortnite, the Whiplash sports car.

And it looks like more incoming vehicles will be teased in the run-up to the Fortnite cars release date.

Today (Tuesday August 4) the Fortnite Twitter shared a teaser image for another inbound vehicle, the Mudflap lorry.

Alongside the teaser image the Fortnite Twitter posted: “Own the Road.

“Experience the #FortniteJoyRide Update on 8.5.2020”.

So far a start time has not been confirmed for the Fortnite cars update, but downtime for the last Fortnite patch (13.30) began at 4am eastern time, which is 9am BST.

If Epic Games follows a similar release schedule then that’s when downtime for the Fortnite cars update could begin on Wednesday August 5.

Fortnite server downtime typically lasts for a few hours at most, so hopefully by lunch time in the UK the Fortnite cars feature will be live and ready to play.

Fortnite update 13.40 looks like it will be one of the final season 3 patches ahead of the release of Fortnite chapter 2 season 4.

The next Battle Pass is scheduled to launch at the end of August.
