Harry Redknapp tips Eddie Howe to secure top job after Bournemouth exit – EXCLUSIVE

Howe, 42, left Bournemouth by mutual consent on Saturday night after a total of 11 years in charge of the club, during which time he took them from 23rd in League 2 to the the Premier League.

The former Bournemouth player and coach, who had been with the club for a total of 25 years, penned an emotional thanks to Cherries owner Maxim Demin, staff, players and fans on Saturday night after it was announced that he was leaving, just a week after the club dropped out of the top flight.

Howe had spent a week agonising over his future, seeking to the Bournemouth board, to staff, player and his family, before the decision was announced.

He is now expected, as Express Sport revealed last week, to take some time off – but former Cherries manager Redknapp is convinced that Howe, linked with Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and even England during the five years he kept Bournemouth in the top flight – will bounce back into one of the elite jobs.

Former Tottenham and West Ham manager Redknapp, 73, who was in charge at Bournemouth for nine years up until 1992, said: “Eddie has done an amazing job at Bournemouth. It is a miracle what he achieved there.

“I have no doubt at all that Eddie will end up with another top job.

“He took a team that had no right to be anywhere near to the Premier league in there – and kept them there for five years. An astonishing achievement.

“They were in League 2 when he took over, and he took them right through the divisions into the Premier League.

“And he did that with more or less half the players that played for him in the first two or three years he was there – players that had come up with him like Simon Francis, Steve Cook and Charlie Daniels. It is an amazing story.”
