Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 5 release date news is great for Warzone fans

Anyone who has grown bored of the Warzone map can look forward to some exciting changes with the launch of Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 5. The official Call of Duty Season 5 release date has been set for August 5, and that’s great news for all COD fans. For one, it means that a new Battle Pass is coming to the game, meaning new stuff to do for those who finished Season 4 a long time ago.

But it also means that Warzone gamers have a final weekend of bonuses to help them complete the stuff they haven’t finished yet.

If you were looking for a helping hand in completing those final tiers, Activision has helpfully launched a Double XP event.

The event is now and includes Double XP, Double Weapon XP and 2X Tier Progression until August 4 in the United States.

For gamers in the UK, the double XP for Call of Duty Season 4 will be available until August 5, ending at around 7am BST.

Infinity Ward has also launched one of the last playlist changes for Season 4 into Call of Duty Warzone this weekend, with Juggernaut Royale Quads now available across all platforms.

Infinity Ward has also started setting up the story for Warzone Season 5 by revealing more on the new Shadow Company faction coming to the game.

This new group looks set to shake up the map, with a train and a change to the stadium area already heavily hinted at.

But there could also be other significant map tweaks coming our way that haven’t been revealed yet by Activision.

Clues might be found in the latest post from the publisher, which explains what the Shadow Company is all about.

It reads: “Each Season, the narrative of Modern Warfare continues to advance. New enemies, heroes, and those with more clandestine reasons for being within the theatre of war have risen to fill the void left by AQ forces, ready to counter the emerging threat posed by Mr Z.

“As Season Five approaches, events have transpired and led to the formation of a new group aligned in name only with the Allegiance faction – Shadow Company. Read on to shine a light on this mysterious new private military company before taking these Operators into the heat of battle.

“An elite PMC, Shadow Company operates outside the boundaries of the original Armistice. Forged from the fires of in-fighting between the Coalition and the Allegiance, Shadow Company has a framework and agenda all of their own.

“Ostensibly Allegiance Operators who have grown impatient with Coalition progress under the command of Captain Price, Shadow Company is a splinter group formed without compromise, ready to take the war directly to Mr Z and into Verdansk and deal with terrorist threats directly.

“All experts in their field with formal military experience, this trio is prepared to change the current experience of Verdansk.”
