British holidaymaker suffers serious spinal injuries after tombstoning 70ft into the sea on Ibiza and landing on rocks

A British holidaymaker was badly injured after jumping into the sea from cliffs near the Ibizan party resort of San Antonio and smashing onto rocks.
The tourist, who is in his 30s, is said to have suffered a serious spinal cord injury after trying to tombstone into the water from a height of nearly 70ft.
The accident happened at a spot called Cap Negret north of San Antonio, which is well-known in Ibiza as one of the best places on the island to see the sun go down.
The alarm was raised around 3pm on Wednesday by other tourists, who are believed to have pulled him from the water before help arrived.

Firefighters led the rescue, although local police, Civil Guard and paramedics were also mobilised by a regional government-run emergency response coordination centre.
The unnamed Briton has been admitted to the intensive care unit of Ibiza’s Can Misses Hospital.
Separately, it emerged yesterday a 26-year-old Briton had been seriously hurt after plunging from a third-floor apartment in the Majorcan capital Palma.
It was confirmed today that the man lived at the property with his girlfriend.
He landed in an internal patio but survived after his fall was cushioned by a plant. Police have launched an investigation.
In August 2018 a British holidaymaker died in Ibiza after leaping off a cliff and hitting rocks in a freak accident while celebrating his 24th birthday.
Paul Gardner, from North Shields, dived into the sea at a cove near San Antonio called Cala Gracio.
He was said at the time to have hit rocks as he leapt from a height of around 20ft in a misjudged attempt to reach deep water.
Paul had only flown out to Ibiza from Newcastle Airport with friends two days before the tragedy. They stayed at the four-star Hotel Orosol in San Antonio.
