Spain is experiencing a surge of new cases and Catalan cities such as Barcelona are going back into lockdown to help stop the spread of the virus. People now entering the UK from Spain will have to quarantine for two weeks.
But holidaymakers and business owners in the iconic Punta Ballena strip in Magaluf are worried the party destination is done for good.
Daniel Hernandez-Chetland owns the popular Red Lion pub in the centre of the strip and said police turned up without any warning and shut them down.
He told the Daily Mirror: “I think this is politics.
“Why have they only shut the strip and why didn’t they give us a fair warning?
“We were doing everything correctly and then suddenly the police turned up and told us we were shutting.
“I had just brought 13 members of staff back from furlough.”
One holidaymaker, Sally Cotton, said people do not know what to do with themselves as it has all closed down.
She said: “I came out just before the strip shut down and it was great but since it closed people haven’t known what to do with themselves.

Last week, images and videos surfaced of drunk yobs vomiting in the streets and ignoring social distancing rules.
Tourism minister Lago Negueruela announced police would be mobilised to ensure all bars and restaurants were closed.
Police were seen patrolling the party zone as businesses closed their shutters.
Officials hoped the pandemic would curb the annual booze-fuelled tourists who descend upon the town.
An owner of a tattoo parlour, known as David, said: “What they are trying to do is change the type of tourist they get in Magaluf.
“The closure has nothing to do with what happened when the young people were seen jumping on the car. It’s an excuse.
“We are in trouble – our businesses are on the edge already.”
This week, Spain saw a surge of new cases as the figure jumped up by 4,581 with more than 200 localised clusters of the virus being identified since June.
Spain now has a total of 319,501 confirmed cases with the death toll reaching up to 28, 432.
The UK continues to have the highest death toll across Europe after surpassing 45,000.
