Brighton are poised to confirm the signing of Adam Lallana on a free transfer from Liverpool in the next few days, according to reports.

The 32-year-old paid an emotional farewell to the newly-crowned Premier League champions on Friday at the end of his six-year Anfield stay – and his contract is set to expire after the final game of the season.

Reports recently indicated that Brighton had edged into pole position to snap up the England international on a bargain deal, although there were believed to have been reservations over the impact on the club’s wage structure.

It has also been suggested that Brighton’s technical director Dan Ashworth held an integral role in sealing negotiations after the club initially registered their interest in securing Lallana at the start of the year.

The former Southampton man’s attitude on and off the field, as well as his astuteness in possession, were highlighted as the attributes which Brighton were drawn to.

Lallana is also excited by the challenge of helping Graham Potter’s side become a more possession-based unit, according to the Independent.

He has already collected his belongings from Melwood, Liverpool’s training complex, and will likely not be part of the squad that takes on Newcastle for the finale of the elongated top flight campaign.

But his spell with Liverpool has seen Lallana secure the Champions League trophy, the Premier League title, the UEFA Super Cup and also the FIFA Club World Cup.

His final interview with the Reds was an emotional one and he departs after making 178 appearances across all competitions.

Leicester City reportedly offered Lallana a three-year deal, while Arsenal, Tottenham and Burnley were also credited with an interest.
