Turkey holiday rules: From flights to curfews – everything you need to know

Turkey is one of Britons favourite holiday destinations, with Britons flocking to the beautiful beaches every year. Due to the coronavirus pandemic travel had been off limits, however holidaymakers can now travel to Turkey, with the country having reopened its borders for tourists on June 12.

Holidaying may feel odd for some, especially with the restrictions and requirements in place for travellers in the wake of the pandemic.

Many are opting to remain in the UK and have what’s known as a ‘Staycation’ however, travelling abroad for that much needed sun is too appealing to miss for others.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has issued a warning against all non-essential international travel in March, however as of July 4 this has been lifted for 67 destinations.

Turkey is one of those included on the list of countries Britons can now travel to, and there are rules and restrictions in place for those who opt to holiday there.

CURFEWS

Across Turkey, the government has imposed curfews in order to limit the spread of coronavirus.

These curfews are either time-limited or aimed at particular age groups.

Curfews can also be imposed at short notice and the FCO advises any travellers to keep up to date with local developments.

There remains an ongoing curfew for those who have any chronic medical conditions.

In addition curfews are in place for:

Adults over 65-years-old, including Residence Permit holders, must stay inside between 8pm and 10am on a daily basis.

Mugla and Antalya provinces have announced exceptions to this regulation for foreign tourists over 65. You should check whether your accommodation is in one of these areas before travelling, and follow local announcements.
