Dark season 3 explained: Who did Young Noah kill in series 2? Family tree link and reason

Speaking to Indiewire, co-creator Jantje Friese said: “Our idea was always to do Greek tragedy below it even though it’s a sci-fi show, a mystery show, in its core, it’s really about human relationships and how f***ed up they can be.”

Her words suggest there would be much death between family members as is characteristic in Greek tragedies.

She went on to explain how the writers had to establish the rules of time travel early on in the show and put in the “groundwork”.

Friese explained: “We’re hinting at that in the first season all the time that it’s a circle. Everything happens constantly in loops.

“I just felt that was such a multilayered story. I put a lot of thought into it: What kind of information and when do you explain certain rules? How much room do you give for people trying to figure it out and when do you push them into the right direction? What kind of trigger words do you use? What kind of symbols do you use?

“There are a lot of symbols throughout, a lot of referencing systems in terms of religion, mythology.”

Dark seasons 1 to 3 are streaming on Netflix now
