Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has consulted two stars on Jadon Sancho transfer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that he has consulted Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire on the prospect of signing Jadon Sancho. The Manchester United boss is eager to bring the 20-year-old to the club and he has been speaking to his players behind the scenes to find out more about the England international.

Sancho will be allowed to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer should their £120million valuation be met.

He was dropped to the bench by manager Lucien Favre for the final two matches of the Bundesliga season, which would hint that the club are planning for the future without him.

Dortmund have since slapped an August 10 deadline on any deal for Sancho, claiming United will need to wrap up proceedings before then or he will stay in Germany for another season.

United remain focused on securing Champions League qualification for next season but they’re expected to up the ante in the race for Sancho once the Premier League season is complete.

Mason Greenwood has enjoyed a purple patch of late and is set to be called up to the senior set-up for the first ever time.

His hot-streak has created doubt as to whether United require Sancho and if the money is better spent on other areas of the squad in need of improvement.

Former Red Devils striker Andy Cole thinks it would be hard for United to let an opportunity like Sancho pass them by.

“You’re always looking to bring in players,” he told MUFCTV.

“I’m not going to sit here and say, ‘Oh no, he’s not good enough!’ because of course he’s good enough.

“He’s got pace, he’s got the ability to go past players, score goals and create.

“I think ultimately all those kind of things are going to be down to financial issues coming out of Covid-19 – financially, it’s hit every football club.

“But Manchester United will undoubtedly look to strengthen and look to add to what they have.”
