Neymar: PSG owners make transfer decision as Barcelona eye Lionel Messi reunion

Neymar won’t be allowed to leave PSG on a free transfer in 2022 by the club’s owners, reports say. And that will be boost Barcelona’s changes of signing the Brazil international this summer as they continue to eye a reunion between the Samba star and Lionel Messi. Neymar is eager to return to the Nou Camp, three years after his controversial move to the Parc des Princes.

Neymar hoped to return to Barcelona last summer only for the La Liga giants to spend big on landing Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid instead.

However, he’s hopeful he’ll secure a return to his old club when the transfer window reopens at the end of the current campaign.

And L’Equipe say PSG’s owners have decided that he won’t be allowed to leave the club on a free transfer in 2022, which means they could sell up this summer.

Barcelona want Neymar back, believing the return of the Brazilian could hold the key to Lionel Messi extending his stay in Catalonia.

But whether they can afford him remains to be seen.

Barcelona have been hit hard by the current coronavirus crisis, with the players at the club having to take a 70 per cent wage cut.

And, with that in mind, the La Liga side could use players as bait in order to tempt PSG into parting ways with their prized asset.

Ousmane Dembele could be one of the players to PSG’s liking, with the winger struggling at Barcelona ever since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund three years ago.

Griezmann himself could be used in a swap deal, with the France international struggling to settle at the Nou Camp since his move from Atletico.

And Philippe Coutinho may be offered to PSG, too, as Barcelona look to get the Brazilian off the wage bill.

“Right now, no chance,” Herrera responded when asked about the possibility of Neymar and Mbappe moving to Spain by El Transistor.

“They seem very dedicated and happy, nothing to do with what is said.

“What’s more, I think neither Real Madrid nor Barcelona could handle a deal of this calibre in this situation, but I’m no economist and I’m not involved at either club.”

Herrera also admitted to getting along well with Neymar.

“Because of the language, [I get on better with] Neymar,” he admitted.

“It’s true that Kylian tries with Spanish and can defend himself, and I can defend myself in French.”
