Styrian Grand Prix 2020 qualifying results LIVE: Wet weather hits Lewis Hamilton hopes

Styrian Grand Prix qualifying is under threat of postponement due to wet weather ahead of the second race of the 2020 F1 season. Reigning champion Lewis Hamilton has bemoaned the stormy conditions and said it would “suck” if the lap times set during Friday’s Free Practice 2 session have to decide Sunday’s grid.

That is one of a number of possibilities F1 chiefs are having to consider as torrential rain – which has already seen Free Practice 3 cancelled – puts qualifying at risk.

Qualifying is scheduled to get underway at 2pm BST but FIA race director Michael Masi has confirmed it’s touch and go as to whether the session will start then.

If qualifying cannot take place today or on Sunday morning, FP2 times will inform the make up of the Styrian Grand Prix grid – which would see Max Verstappen on pole and an unhappy Hamilton start in an unfamiliar sixth.

Express Sport will be on hand with live results once qualifying gets underway at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.
