Face masks have become a part of everyday life in the coronavirus pandemic in order to stop the spread of the disease. Now mandatory on public transport in the UK and with rumours that stricter rules will be coming from Prime Minister Boris Johnson as the scientific evidence for their efficacy grows, it’s important to have a stash at home. But where can you buy reusable face masks?
While plenty of independent retailers have switched their sewing skills from their normal trade to making face coverings, they’re becoming more widely available.
Sainsbury’s is the latest big supermarket to launch its own set of reusable face coverings through its Tu Clothing brand, following Aldi and Asda.
The budget-friendly brand has launched a range of stylish yet practical designs for both adults and children, available in store or online.
The supermarket was previously only selling disposable face masks with 10 for £8, but experts are advising the public to invest in washable cloth masks so that disposable PPE is saved for those who need it most.

The masks will also give back, with 100 per cent of the profits split between NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Urgent Appeal, BFC Foundation Fashion Fund and Wings of Hope Children’s Charity.
There are two three-packs to choose from, which each cost £15 and feature a different trio of designers.
Fashion fans can choose from Julien Macdonald, RIXO, and Liam Hodges or Mulberry, RÆBURN, and Halpern, and they all come with two protective pouches to keep them clean once they’ve been washed.
All designs have a nose strip for comfort to keep the mask in place, and can be washed at up to 60 degrees.
However it’s the children’s masks which are sure to be even more popular thanks to a clever design hack.
The kids’ masks, which come in fun prints such as stars, dinosaurs or unicorns, are specially designed for smaller faces.
They also have a unique popper design detail which pulls apart, making it easier for parents and children to remove them once they’re finished.
The children’s options are also cheaper than the adults’, with packs of three for £8.
All of the masks in the Tu range are made with 100 per cent cotton but it is not a medical mask.
Face coverings are designed to protect others from the transmission of vapour droplets from your nose and mouth.
The masks should cover your nose right down to under your chin, with a fairly tight seal, and you shouldn’t touch it while you’re wearing it.
Masks should be washed after every use and taken off carefully, being sure not to touch the surface of the cloth – and always wash your hands before and after too.
