xXx 4: Vin Diesel and Deepika Padukone Xander Cage sequel release date looks LONG way off

Back in 2017, Vin Diesel resurrected his extreme athlete turned field agent for xXx 3: Return of Xander Cage. Having starred in the 2002 original, his character was supposedly killed off and replaced by Ice Cube in 2005’s xXx: State of the Union. The successful threequel also starred Bollywood beauty Deepika Padukone and both she and Diesel are planning to return for xXx 4.

Production was originally set to begin in December 2018, but due to other commitments, this never came to be.

However, in December last year Diesel confirmed on his Instagram that he’d had a meeting about xXx 4.

The 52-year-old posted some fan art of himself as Xander Cage, wearing a big white fur coat over black clothes.

He wrote: “Appreciate the creativity…”

Diesel also plans to shoot a tenth and final movie in his Fast saga, presumably in the next couple of years.

Then there’s his voice acting for Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 and Thor: Love and Thunder.

Plus he’s been shooting the Avatar sequels with James Cameron.

Not to mention he’s teased the possibility of Witch Hunter and Bloodshot follow-ups.

While xXx 4 is probably a while a way, its director DJ Caruso, who helmed Return of Xander Cage, has teased his vision for the fourth film.

Speaking with Cinema Blend, he said: “I think there’s a bigger ‘they’re’ at play that we talked about.

“We also talked about, particularly with the political climate as it is now, not that we’re such a hugely political movie, but Sam [Jackson] talks about how we need someone to watch the watchers…

“So that’s kind of the idea with the next one. And then, if we can expand on that, what would the world leaders do if they know that these were the people watching the watchers?”
