Avengers Endgame: Chris Evans gives ANOTHER sign he will make Captain America MCU return?

The 39-year-old starred in the Captain America trilogy and across four Avengers movies over the last decade. Chris Evans’ contract is up and Steve Rogers is out of the MCU, for now. However, in recent months there have been signs from the star that he could well return to the Captain America role one day.

Speaking with Backstage to promote Defending Jacob, Evans reflected on his time playing Captain America in the MCU.

He said: “I absolutely loved my time with Marvel; I already miss it.

“But there’s no denying that it is very exciting to just have complete freedom to pursue whatever my creative appetite wants.”

By the sounds of it, Evans is happy to leave Captain America for now, but the fact he already misses it after only a year suggests he could one day be persuaded to return.

In fact, just a few weeks ago, Evans was asked if he would return as Captain America one day on The Graham Norton Show.

The star said: “It’s not a hard no, but it’s not an eager yes either.

“I think Cap had such a tricky act to stick the landing, and I think they did a really nice job letting him complete his journey.”

He then laid out his conditions for such a comeback one day.

However, Cap never went back to the future.

Instead, Steve returned to the late 1940s, where he settled down with Peggy Carter to live the life with her he always wanted.

Having lived a full life, he had returned to 2023 the long way round, now being well over 100 years old.

Steve then gave Falcon his shield, making him the new Captain America.

So old Steve could return in the MCU, unless they kill him off like Peggy Carter in Captain America: Civil War.

If that’s the case, it’s still very easy for Evans’ superhero to make a comeback.

After all, Avengers Endgame introduced the MCU multiverse and time travel to the franchise.

So an alternate Cap or younger version of Steve could cameo in a future battle to aid the New Avengers, as could Iron Man and Black Widow.
