Simon Rimmer: Sunday Brunch host shares 'emotional' news after 'humbling' moment

Simon Rimmer, 57, and Tim Lovejoy, 52, are regular fixtures on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch. Away from the show, the TV chef has spoken out about the reopening of his restaurant Greens which has been closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Taking to Twitter, the culinary chef thanked his legion of fans for their support and admitted it was a “humbling” moment.

In view of his 270,000 followers, Simon shared a snap of his restaurant located in Manchester.

He wrote: “Can’t not say a HUGE thank you to everyone who’s booked @greensveggie tables for July 4 onwards. So humbling and emotional.”(sic)

His restaurant plans to reopen next month as lockdown restrictions slowly begin to be lifted.

Pointing to his T-shirt, which featured a trophy on the front and the football team’s initials LFC, he went on: “I’ve had this sitting in my house since March, fearing it might be bad luck.

“We’ve done it. Liverpool are champions. Thank you to Liverpool Football Club for an amazing season. It’s not over yet. Liverpool champions, goodnight.”

Meanwhile, Simon and his co-star Tim were left in hysterics on the show last week, after their guest chef suffered an on-screen blunder.

The Sunday Brunch hosts asked chef Jose Pizarro what he’ll be cooking on the show.

But Jose seemingly forgot what he was making as he admitted his mind had gone “blank”.

Simon said: “Good morning sir. What are you cooking for us today?”

Jose replied: “I’m going to be doing four dishes. The first is a Tuna Empanadilla and a lovely salad. Then I’m going to do…erm, I’ve gone blank.”

Simon and Tim then reminded the chef he was also scheduled to cook a trout dish.

The cheeky mishap had the trio in hysterics, as Tim joked: “We might end up with cheese on toast, you never know.”

Sunday Brunch airs today on Channel 4 at 9.30am.
