Barcelona chief Josep Maria Bartomeu considering Quique Setien sack after Celta Vigo draw

Pep Guardiola has been linked with a stunning return but he’d prefer to stay at Manchester City for one more season at least, particularly given their Champions League ban.

And Xavi has also emerged as a potential candidate, months after the Barcelona icon was turned down for the role of head coach.

Meanwhile, speaking after Barca’s draw with Celta Vigo, Setien admitted the result was tough for him to take.

“I don’t know what to tell you,” Setien said. “I could say a thousand things but I don’t think there’s one thing.

“We try to defend with the ball. Sometimes you can’t attack because the opponents sit back. Sometimes you rush things. We play teams, like Celta today, with very good players.

“It’s true that we would like to be more solid in many aspects. We’re attacking, we try to win, to play in the opposition’s half, and that’s what can sometimes give the opposition chances, too.”
