EastEnders heartbreak: Angie star Anita Dobson's devastating Brian May confession exposed

But Anita once made a bombshell confession that if one particular episode of the soap was never made she wouldn’t have met her now husband and Queen superstar Brian May. Viewers have been left heartbroken after the show was temporarily postponed due to filming restrictions in place as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. However, in a bid to ensure fans can still get their weekly fix of the long-running soap, Stacey Dooley will host documentary ‘EastEnders: Secrets from the Square’ every Monday night, while an iconic episode will run on the Tuesday.

Tonight’s episode involves Den and Angie, with Den demanding for a divorce.

His request leads to a dramatic revelation from Angie, but viewers are left wondering whether she is actually telling the truth.

The episode, which originally aired on October 16, 1986, will air at 7.30pm on BBC One.

Yet, for Anita it was an episode of the show that aired on Christmas Day later that year that meant she would eventually meet Brian and begin their life together.

Speaking on Channel 4’s ‘Sunday Brunch’ last year, Anita said: “I think people miss Angie and Den. It was kind of my breakthrough moment, in a way.

“I was in the business for about 13 years and suddenly that happened and everything took off.

“It was insane. I would never have met my husband if that hadn’t happened.”

The episode in question was watched by 30.2 million viewers.

She added: “I’m absolutely thrilled because to have made something that’s so iconic and that people are actually watching again – as well as a new generation – is wonderful and magical. I can hold it up as an achievement in my life.

“It was insane. People were following me home in cars, singing outside my window at my flat, I couldn’t go to pubs or supermarkets or walk down the street.

“It was bizarre but that was my life. How exciting I got to do that.”
