Samsung, Huawei and Google facing big pressure from incredibly cheap new rival

This year’s OnePlus 8 was priced from £599, while the OnePlus 8 Pro cost either £799 for 8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage, or £899 for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of space.

The pricing for the OnePlus 8 Pro brought it in line with how much flagship offerings from Samsung, Huawei and Google cost.

But now OnePlus fans have been left wondering if the firm are going back to its low-cost roots with their next handset.

The rumoured OnePlus Z (aka the OnePlus Nord) is expected to be launching imminently, with the handset believed to be arriving in India first on July 10.

And ahead of the phone’s official unveiling OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has sparked speculation about the price the OnePlus Z could launch at.

Pei on Twitter quoted a tweet from April 2014 which announced the Chinese firm’s first ever smartphone – the OnePlus One.
