Blake Shelton & Gwen Stefani Have Been Kelly Clarkson’s Support System Amid Divorce, As Mother-In-Law Reba McEntire Is ‘Anguished’ Over The Split

After filing for divorce from her husband Brandon Blackstock earlier this month, Kelly Clarkson is reportedly leaning on Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani for support. Both Shelton and Stefani are all too familiar with the pain of divorce, and an insider says that they want what is best for both Clarkson and Blackstock.

“They both know how painful divorce can be and just want the best for their friends,” the source told Entertainment Tonight, adding that Clarkson’s inner circle “saw this coming” for months. “She hasn’t been happy, so they are in full support of her decision to end her marriage. They know this is the best next step in her life and feel she deserves a fresh start.”

A second source told Us Weekly that Shelton has been supportive of Clarkson and is the friend she has needed, as always. The insider noted that Clarkson and Shelton often joke that they are brother and sister.

Clarkson’s main focus at the moment are the two kids she shares with Blackstock, River Rose, 5, and Remington Alexander, 4. The source explained that The Voice coach is facing a difficult time right now, and she’s not ready to open up to the world just yet about her split.

The insider says that one thing Clarkson does know right now is that she is ready to put herself first and live a happier existence. At this point, the Grammy winner is doing her best to start over.

“She feels at this point, she needs to find herself again and take control,” dished the source. “It took a lot to file for divorce because she wanted to make it work. She just knew she couldn’t spend the rest of her life with him.”

Blackstock is the longtime manager of both Clarkson and Shelton, and he is also the executive producer of The Kelly Clarkson Show. It is not clear how his business relationship with Clarkson will continue in the wake of the split.

Clarkson’s mother-in-law, Reba McEntire, is reportedly “anguished” about the divorce. She completely supports Blackstock and Clarkson’s decision to end their marriage, though, and she is “not one to judge” says another insider.

McEntire was married to Blackstock’s father, Narvel Blackstock, from 1989 to 2015. She has also been close friends with Kelly Clarkson for years.

Clarkson filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock on June 4 in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences. She is requesting joint legal and physical custody of their two children.
