Glee Star Heather Morris Weighs In On Lea Michele Controversy

After Samantha Ware called out Glee star Lea Michele for making her life “a living hell” on the set of the Fox musical series, other cast members have started to speak up about their experience with the actress who starred as Rachel Berry for six seasons. Heather Morris, who played Brittany S. Pierce, has weighed in on the controversy in a tweet, and she says that Michele was not easy to work with.

Even though Michele was not an ideal co-star, Morris says that she can’t comment on Michele’s personal beliefs and says it isn’t smart to assume. Ware’s accusation against Michele implied that she was actually racist, and that conflicted with her public support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Morris wanted to make it very clear that “hate is a disease in America,” and we are trying to cure it. She added that she would never wish for hate to be spread to anyone else.

“With that said, was she [Michele] unpleasant to work with? Very much so; for Lea to treat others with the disrespect that she did for as long as she did, I believe she SHOULD be called out,” wrote Morris. “It’s also on us because to allow it to go on for so long without speaking out is something else we’re learning along with the rest of society.”

Morris concluded her comments by saying that it has been implied that Michele is a racist. Even though she can’t comment on Michele’s beliefs, Morris thinks that everyone is assuming. “And, you know what happens when we all assume,” wrote Morris.

The controversy surrounding Michele escalated this past weekend when she tweeted her support for the Black Lives Matter movement, and then Ware responded with accusations that Michele made her first television gig so horrific that she started to question if she should pursue an acting career.

“I BELIEVE YOU TOLD EVERYONE THAT IF YOU HAD THE OPPORTUNITY YOU WOULD ‘S–T IN MY WIG!’ AMONGST OTHER TRAUMATIC MICROAGRESSIONS THAT MADE ME QUESTION A CAREER IN HOLLYWOOD…” wrote Ware.

Soon after, some of Lea Michele’s Glee co-stars stepped forward in support of Samantha Ware. Michele has since issued an apology, but she has already lost her partnership deal with HelloFresh because of the scandal.
