Stephanie Beatriz And Griffin Newman Challenge Actors Who’ve Played Police Officers To Donate To The ‘Black Lives Matter’ Movement!

Stephanie Beatriz and Griffin Newman who are famous for starring in Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Tick, respectively, took to social media to plead with fellow actors who have portrayed or still portray police officers on TV to show support to the Black Lives Matter movement by donating part of their earnings to the cause. As you know, a lot of celebrities have been doing whatever they can to bring awareness and contribute in other ways as well after the senseless killing of George Floyd by cops.

That being said, both Stephanie and Griffin have donated a total of $22,000 to the Community Exchange Fund.

Their financial contribution will be used as bail for the protestors taken into custody.

Earlier today, Newman was the first to propose the idea that actors playing cops should contribute with donations as well.

After all, this tragedy, just like many others preceding it, was caused by policemen so he thought it would be a meaningful donation if it came from fictional cops.

‘I’m an out-of-work actor who improbably played a detective on two episodes of Blue Bloods almost a decade ago. If you currently play a cop? If you make tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in residuals from playing a cop? I’ll let you do the math,’ he tweeted.

Not too long after, Beatriz also challenged fellow actors to do the same!

‘I’m an actor who plays a detective on tv. If you currently play a cop? If you make tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in residuals from playing a cop? I’ll let you do the math. ([email protected] for leading the way),’ she wrote, giving credit to Newman for the idea.

In the meantime, Newman has been re-sharing donations to the Community Justice Exchange from multiple people, including a script coordinator who’s worked ‘on a couple of cop shows,’ an actor who portrayed ‘a cop in a Troma movie’ and even fans who have enjoyed watching such police-centric shows on TV.
