Tiger Woods is joining the long list of celebrities addressing the current protests sparked by the killing of George Floyd. That being said, the golf legend called for a ‘safer, unified society’ in a new post.
In his statement, he also urged all his followers to continue the good fight for justice but in a peaceful way.
Furthermore, he showed respect to law enforcement even while people can’t help but blame the whole police system for the longtime suffering of the black community.
Instead, Woods seemed to suggest this was just a particular situation where the line of where to use force and how much, was crossed.
He wrote: ‘My heart goes out to George Floyd, his loved ones and all of us who are hurting right now. I have always had utmost respect for law enforcement. They train so diligently to understand how, when and where to use force. This shocking tragedy clearly crossed that line. I remember the LA riots and learned that education is the best path forward.’

His words were very similar to what George Floyd’s brother, Terrence, also said in a speech he gave in front of a group of protesters.

‘My family is a peaceful family. My family is God-fearing. Yeah, we upset. But we’re not gonna take it; we’re not gonna be repetitious. In every case of police brutality, the same thing’s been happening: Y’all protest, destroy stuff and they don’t move. You know why? It’s not their stuff. It is our stuff. So, they want us to destroy our own stuff. So, let’s do this another way,’ Terrence stated.
