Bernie Sanders Speaks About Endorsing Joe Biden After Being Invited To Be Part Of His Presidential Journey

Just hours after announcing that he is ending his presidential campaign, Senator Bernie Sanders appeared on The Late Show, where he spoke to Stephen Colbert about his movement and former Vice President Joe Biden.

Earlier in the day, the Vermont lawmaker removed himself from the race, and Biden took to Twitter to praise him and to thank him for his amazing contribution.

Barack Obama’s VP said: “And to Bernie’s supporters: I know that I need to earn your votes. And I know that might take time. But I want you to know that I see you, I hear you, and I understand the urgency of this moment. I hope you’ll join us. You’re more than welcome: You’re needed.”

He added: “Together, we will defeat Donald Trump. But we will also address the climate crisis. We will make college affordable. And we will make health care available to all. We will not just rebuild this nation – we’ll transform it. And I’m asking you to join me.”

When asked if he will endorse Biden, Sanders stated: “Well that, we’re going to be talking to Joe, and we are, we’re talking to his team of advisers, I will do everything that I can to make sure that Donald Trump is not reelected. I believe Trump has been the most dangerous president in the modern history of this country, and we’re seeing his narcissism play out in terms of this pandemic that we’re experiencing right now.”

Sanders went on to say: “So, I will do everything I can, but I can say that we’re talking to Joe, and we’re talking to his team about how we can work together.”

In a recent interview, Biden said he wants Sanders to play a role in his campaign.

The Democratic presumptive nominee for president stated: “Bernie has an incredible following. He’s maybe one of a half dozen people in American history who may not be the nominee but has had an impact on American politics in a significant way, in a positive way.”

He continued: “If I’m the nominee, I can tell you one thing — I would very much want Bernie Sanders to be part of the journey. Not as a vice presidential nominee, but just in engaging in all the things that he’s worked so hard to do, many of which I agree with.”
