Cindy Crawford Says She Was Asked To Remove Her Iconic Beauty Mark If She Wanted To Make It As A Model!

Being a model is not easy! After all, it involves other people judging pretty much everything about one’s physical appearance and that can really take a toll on anyone’s self-esteem, especially in formative years!

Cindy Crawford is one of the biggest names in the industry but getting to where she is has not been easy.

The supermodel opened up about how, when she first broke into modeling, she was asked to get rid of her now-iconic beauty mark that sits right above her lip.

Crawford discussed this with fellow OG model Naomi Campbell as her first guest on her No Filter YouTube series.

The supermodels were reminiscing about throwback photoshoots from early in their careers when Cindy shared the story of how she was encouraged to remove the mole if she wanted a bright future in the industry.

It all started with Naomi asking Cindy if Vogue would edit the beauty mark out of the cover pictures or not.

‘I did a British Vogue cover before I did an American Vogue cover and on the British Vogue cover they retouched it out. So there’s a cover of me out there with no mole,’ Cindy dished.

Asked how it made her feel, Cindy explained that: ‘Look, as a kid I hated having a beauty mark. My sister’s called it an ugly mark.’

But when Naomi admitted she wished she had one too and would draw it on her face sometimes, Cindy pointed out that ‘I feel like we always want what we do not have. Like girls with curly hair want straight hair and girls with straight hair want curly hair. So when I went to my very first modeling agency they said I should remove it. It was a tiny little agency. I do not even remember the name of it. They said that I should remove it and my mother was like, ‘Ok, you can do that but you do not know what the scar will look like. [But] You know what your beauty mark looks like.’’
