Is It Time For Saturday Night Live To Get Rid Of Pete Davidson?

Is it time for Saturday Night Live to get rid of Pete Davidson? This is the question on many people’s minds after Pete’s explosive interview with Charlamagne tha God where he indicated he’s become the butt of jokes on the long-running, late-night comedy sketch show. While Pete had nothing but kind words for Lorne Michaels (probably the only reason why he’s still on the show), he had less than stellar things to say about his castmates. Not many people can casually treat their place of employment and trash talk their fellow workers and keep their jobs and many are saying it’s time for Pete to go.

Speaking to Charlamagne, Pete Davidson said the following words about Saturday Night Live (SNL).

Here’s the thing: I personally think that I should be done with that show because they make fun of me on it. I have a weird feeling in that building where I don’t know whose team they’re playing for, really. If I’m the joke or I’m in on the joke.

The comments regarding Pete’s time on Saturday Night Live begin around the 30-minute mark. The video should be timestamped for you and begins with Pete praising Adam Sandler and supporting his award-winning movie Uncut Gems.

In the upcoming March 16, 2020, issue of OK! magazine, a source close to the situation dished on details of what’s going on behind-the-scenes over at SNL. The source stated the following to the outlet.

“Pete doesn’t contribute much to the writing, yet he’s the only one who gest star treatment. Lorne Michaels allots him more time off than anybody. The vibe on the set is frigid whenever he’s around and gets better when he’s gone. Pete’s got a pretty cushy gig, so his costars don’t understand all the negativity. The chances of him staying another season are looking pretty slim — and truthfully, they wouldn’t be very sorry if he left.”

During Pete’s interview he had extremely kind words for the show’s creator Lorne Michaels — he even referred to him as a father figure.

Could it be that Lorne Michaels has extended so much kindness towards Pete by letting him stay on the show, giving him time to enter rehab, and letting him work on other projects because he’s genuinely trying to help him?

Lorne Michaels has seen many of the show’s stars come to tragic ends: Chris Farley, John Belushi, and Chris Farley are just a few. Could it be that he is trying to help Pete Davidson help himself? But is Pete’s behavior hurting his costars as well as the show?
