Crufts, the annual dog show held at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre (NEC), is back for another year. The 129th edition of Britain’s favourite dog show will once again showcase the world’s best canines.
What time is Crufts on TV tonight?
Crufts 2020 will be aired by Channel 4 and More 4 live from Birmingham’s NEC.
On Thursday, March 5, presenter Clare Balding will show highlights from the NEC from 3pm to 4pm.
From 8pm to 9pm Crufts is back on Channel 4 with Scarlett Moffatt visiting the show and see WWE wrestlers pick their favourite dogs.
Crufts Show Manager, Vanessa McAlpine, said: “We are delighted that Channel 4 and More4 will be offering viewers at home the opportunity to enjoy this year’s Crufts.
“The event holds such a special place in dog lovers’ hearts because it celebrates everything that we love most about dogs, and the programmes will reflect on the benefits dogs bring to our lives and the many fascinating aspects of Crufts.
“The TV coverage will not only bring exciting sports such as agility and flyball into people’s homes, but will enable people to see the diverse range of wonderful dog breeds, including some of the more unusual breeds that are not often seen in the streets and parks across the country, through the dog show aspect of Crufts.
“It will also cover topics about choosing, caring for and enjoying life with dogs, as well as different issues affecting dog owners in the UK.”
Crufts attracts more than 20,000 competitors alongside hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
There were fears the dog show would get cancelled this year, due to the recent coronavirus outbreak.
However, in a statement on Wednesday evening, Crufts said: “Following discussions tonight, Defra and their Chief Veterinary Officer’s advisors, as well as the Department of Health and Social Care, have emphasised that their advice has not changed following speculation of an isolated case of a dog testing ‘weak positive’ for Covid-19, which is inconclusive at this stage. The dog has not shown any clinical signs of CoV infection and further investigations are being carried out – we need to know the facts to fully evaluate the situation.
“Dogs of course are the heart of Crufts and the Kennel Club, and we have enhanced measures and precautions at the show to protect them, and our advice to our visitors and exhibitors must be to follow the most up-to-date advice from the medical experts.
“We continue to monitor the situation with the Department of Health and Defra, and any further updates will be issued on our official social media channels and website.”
