Thousands of Virgin Media customers are complaining of a major outage this afternoon that appears to be affecting TV and broadband services.
The popular service appears to have hit troubles at around 3.30pm with reports coming in from across the UK.
Most are complaining that the issue has left them without any TV services but it seems broadband may also be hit in some areas.
Independent outage monitor Downdetector has registered over 2500 reports at one time from customers insisting they are without TV or internet.
The site said the locations with the most outage reports are: New Malden, London, Portsmouth and Bournemouth.
Speaking on Downdetector’s forum page, one unhappy customer said: “No channels, Virgin media call centre person acting like they aren’t aware of an issue even though it’s clear from looking here that it’s a problem all over the country, asking me what my serial number is as there could be a fault with our box!
“None of the 3 boxes we have in the house are working.”
And another user added: “Calling VM at the moment is useless if you can even get through! Their customer service is always like 2 hours behind in terms of recognising area faults and always assume it must be your box.”
As well as Down Detector full of complaints, Virgin customers have also taken to Twitter to vent their anger.
One tweet says: “@virginmedia Here we go again no tv….and you can’t register a loss as your website is down so there’s no chance of the refund if it goes on forever again like pre Christmas….just when I was about to add a mobile phone to my package….mmm maybe not!”
Along with its services being offline, some users are also saying that they can’t use Virgin’s service status checker with that also appearing to be offline.
“@virginmedia, your status checker site is down. My TV is affected trying to watch the rugby. What is the issue please? Terrible picture all broken up. I see lots of other people suffering the same. Waterlooville Hampshire,” said one user on Twitter.
There’s no word on what is causing the issues or when they will be fixed.
