Ethan Ampadu outlines Chelsea plan after wowing in RB Leipzig’s win at Tottenham

Ethan Ampadu is planning to return to Chelsea when his RB Leipzig loan deal expires. The 19-year-old utility man caught the eye in the Bundesliga outfit’s Champions League victory against Tottenham on Wednesday evening.

Ampadu’s time in Germany has been frustrating having managed just two starts in all competitions.

He was included in Julian Nagelsmann’s starting XI for last night’s last-16 tie at Tottenham and made the most of his opportunity.

Despite the lack of action, arguably, hindering his progress, Ampadu has set his sights on returning to Chelsea’s first-team squad at the end of the season.

“I am always watching Chelsea and seeing what is going on,” he said.

Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks believes last season’s finalists can keep their hopes alive.

“The last two years we’ve had our adversity in the Champions League and we’ve somehow found ways of proving everybody wrong,” he said.

“It’s going to be a difficult task as they’re a good side and going there is never going to be easy. We strongly believe that we can go there and cause an upset.

“The manager’s come in and told us the game’s not over and we know that as well.

“The last two years in the Champions League has been difficult for us but we’ve found ways of coming out on top and hopefully we can do the same when we go there.”
