Elton John Cancels Performance Due To Walking Pneumonia

On Sunday, Elton John cut his performance in New Zealand short due to a bout of walking pneumonia, a report from UPI has stated. The 72-year-old reportedly lost his voice while performing at the Mount Smart Stadium in Auckland.

The BBC reported that Mr. John appeared visibly emotional as he walked off stage, which is not an uncommon phenomenon among performing artists who take their performances seriously.

As he left the venue, the crowd gave him a standing ovation. John later took to his Twitter account to thank all of his fans who came out to the Elton John farewell tour in Auckland. The performer also shared that he had been diagnosed with walking pneumonia as well.

John stated he was “determined” to put on the best concert he possibly could.

As it was previously reported, last Sunday, while at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California, Elton accepted the award for best original song. Earlier, he sang “I’m Gonna Love me Again,” from the movie, Rocketman, which was critically acclaimed.

Earlier this week, Eminem also posted a picture of him and Elton John hanging out at the Oscars this year. Fans of Eminem know that he put on a surprise performance of his classic song, “Lose Yourself,” which some people on social media thought was out of place.

Eminem won the award for Best Original Song in the early 2000s as part of his massive hit film, 8 Mile. The song, “Lose Yourself,” was released as part of the soundtrack, and to this day, is considered to be one of his best tracks.

On his social media account, Eminem wrote that he met up with his “Uncle” that night. As for what John has been up to this lately, as it was noted in passing above, Elton just got finished enjoying the release of his biopic film, Rocketman.

The film came out not long after the success of Bohemian Rhapsody, the film documenting Queen’s rise as one of the biggest bands of the 1970s. John’s film, however, faced censorship in countries such as Russia.
