Call of Duty Modern Warfare Battle Royale release date: Surprise update for PS4 and Xbox?

There’s been plenty of evidence found by data miners and curious gamers to suggest that a Call of Duty Modern Warfare Battle Royale mode is in the works. There was even a big teaser trailer dropped during Season 2 by Activision that hints at a new update coming to PS4 and Xbox One. But so far, nothing official has been announced regarding the launch of a new Battle Royale experience. And there have also been mixed signals from leakers on how BR will function across platforms.

Rumours of a Battle Royale mode being released for COD Modern Warfare have been doing the rounds for several months.

The latest suggests it will be called Call of Duty Warzone and will be playable on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

But there have also been leaks that claim this new game mode will be free-to-play, regardless of if you own Modern Warfare.

Meanwhile, a new classified menu option has popped up in Modern Warfare, which looks certain to be filled by a new Battle Royale mode.

And now new rumours have surfaced that could include the official release date of the new COD download.

CALL OF DUTY MODERN WARFARE – WARZONE BATTLE ROYALE RELEASE DATE

According to new information shared online, the new Call of Duty Modern Warfare Battle Royale mode will have a release date set during February 2020.

Dexerto reports that this could happen in the coming days as part of Call of Duty Modern Warfare.

The news has been sourced from leaker, TheGamingRevolution, who suggests the Modern Warfare Battle Royale mode will arrive on Tuesday, February 18, 2020.

That wouldn’t leave much time for the new mode to be teased by Activision and would suggest they would be using the surprise factor of the release to help spread the news.

Developers Infinity Ward has made no comment regarding the recent Battle Royale, which will reportedly include matches of up to 200 players.

A recent community update from the team didn’t suggest anything big was being planned for this week, following the recent launch of COD Season 2.

“Let’s take a look at what happened at the studio this week and what’s coming next week,” the new Infinity Ward community blog adds.

This week we kicked off Season Two with new weapons, new modes, new maps, new Trials, and of course, GHOST. WHO COULD FORGET GHOST.

But seriously, the amount of feedback we’ve received since Season Two launched has been incredible and heartwarming to all of us, so thank you and keep sharing your thoughts with us!

After a sappy Valentine’s Day weekend, nothing kicks off a fresh week better than NVG Reinforce.

“Or maybe….maybe your Valentine’s Day didn’t go so well? 1v1 a new potential soul mate in Rust! Or maybe you just need more double weapon XP.”

As mentioned above, Activision and Infinity Ward have yet to confirm their plans for a new Call of Duty Battle Royale mode for Modern Warfare.

So all the latest rumours regarding its release and gameplay features should be taken with a pinch of salt.
