Wendy Williams Cries While Applauding Zaya Wade For Living In Her Truth

Zaya Wade, formerly known as Zion Wade, has come out as a transgender girl. Wendy Williams covered the beautiful story during Hot Topics and became emotional while doing so.

Dwyane Wade officially revealed on the Ellen Show that his daughter came to him and explained that she wants to be referred to as ‘she and her.’ The basketball player went on to explain that the situation will take some time to get used to and that he and Gabrielle Union are trying to get as informed as they possibly can.

Not long after the story hit the press, Union shared a touching video of Zaya speaking on the subject.

‘[To anyone] who is afraid they’re going to be judged, I would say don’t even think about that. Just be true to yourself, because what’s the point of even living on this earth if you’re going to try to be someone you’re not?” Zaya said. “It’s like you’re not even living as yourself. Be true and don’t really care what the ‘stereotypical’ way of being you is.’

Wendy shared the clip on her show and asked audience members to be quiet while it plays.

‘I want to shout out to young Zaya Wade. The quicker you figure out who you are or who you want to be in life, the easier life gets as you get older, that’s what I’ve discovered. At 12-years-old a lot of us didn’t know who we were and we figure it out until we get to high school or college, or we’re in our 30’s.’

After the audience gave a round of applause, Williams began to get emotional.

She told viewers: ‘For those of you who don’t understand it or don’t like it — don’t say anything. This is a child who has figured out more about her life than we had when we were 12!’

It’s important that Zaya gets public support for inspiring both kids and adults alike.
