Layton Stewart signs

Layton Stewart has signed his first professional contract with Liverpool.

Stewart, 17, has made 13 appearances for Liverpool’s Under-18 squad this season – netting seven goals and providing three assists.

The teenager also featured for Neil Critchley’s Under-23s side, scoring during a 5-2 defeat to Accrington in the EFL Trophy.

In December, Stewart was an unused substitute for the Carabao Cup quarter-final away at Aston Villa.

Willian Jose agreement

Barcelona have reached an agreement with Real Sociedad to sign forward Willian Jose.

That’s according to Spanish television channel La1 and print publication Sport, who claim the La Liga rivals have reached an agreement in principal.

It’s claimed the Catalan giants have agreed to pay £30million for Jose, who has scored 53 goals and provided 13 assists in 132 appearances for Real Sociedad.

Sport say manager Quique Setien has ‘endorsed’ the signing having worked with the 28-year-old during their days together at Las Palmas.

The transfer will be made official as soon as Barcelona receive approval to sign an emergency forward to replace the injured Ousmane Dembele, with Luis Suarez also on the sidelines.

Aaron Ramsey latest

Aaron Ramsey would be a top signing for Manchester United but only if they can ensure his injury problems are behind him, says former Tottenham striker Darren Bent.

Ramsey has made just 12 Series A appearances so far this season, largely due to being on the sidelines through injury and Juventus are reportedly happy to cash in during the summer to relieve themselves of his £400,000 per week wages.

“He’s a very, very good midfield player, he’s a midfield player that gets goals, gets into the box, that late run into the box, but it’s just whether he can stay fit now,” Bent said on talkSPORT.

“That is some hefty wages, you talk about £400,000 a week, there’s only so many clubs that can afford that. But also as well, is it work taking a risk on somebody whose wages are that high if you can’t get him on the pitch consistently.”

Ruben Dias swoop

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has his sights set on a summer recruit in the form of Benfica defender Ruben Dias.

The Portuguese tactician wanted to sign Dias, 22, during his tenure at Manchester United only for Ed Woodward to reject his proposal.

It’s understood Tottenham will have around £120million to spend in the upcoming transfer window and Dias, who is an £80m target for United, Manchester City and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, is a prime target.

Tottenham are also looking at £40m-rated Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake as they seek to inject some youth and pace into their backline.

Adama Traore to Barcelona

Adam Traore could return to Barcelona in the future.

That’s according to his former La Masia youth coach Albert Benaiges, who isn’t surprised by his performances in the Premier League this campaign.

Traore, 24, spent over 11 years in the youth and senior ranks at Barcelona before being sold to Aston Villa for £7million.

He’s since flourished at Wolves and the Premier League club reportedly want £90million for his services.

“It’s true lately I haven’t seen him play. But it can happen,” Birmingham Mail. “I’m not surprised by his performance. Adama was a magnificent boy.”
