Mike Bushell's wife speaks out on 'getting him back' after Strictly tour with Katya Jones

Mike Bushell, 54, has finally completed his Strictly Come Dancing journey after embarking on the BBC show’s tour with his professional dance partner Katya Jones, 30. The BBC Breakfast star, who competed in the dance competition last year, has been spending time away from home and his wife Emily Bushell while performing in arenas around the country.

After his busy tour commitments ended yesterday, Emily took to Twitter to share her happiness over “getting her husband back”.

Her tweet came in response to Mike’s post about his Strictly experience, which he shared in view of his 55,000 followers.

He also divulged details about when he will be returning to his presenting role on BBC Breakfast.

Alongside an illustration of him and Katya dancing together, Mike wrote: “And so the most amazing workjourney of my life is done.

The star previously revealed he received a death threat after he won the show’s Halloween Week dance-off against Catherine Tyldesley and her partner Johannes Radebe.

In an exclusive interview joint interview with Express.co.uk, Mike and Katya spoke about some of the shocking comments they saw online.

Katya explained: “The only thing we could focus on is doing our best in the dance and luckily it’s not up to us whether to stay or not.

“It’s judges’ choice and all we could do was do a good dance and hope they thought it was better and we just gave a million per cent, all the hours.”

Mike added: “It was nice to know we could raise our game for the dance-off.”

He went on to address the backlash they received, recalling: “For every negative comment there was hundreds of positive ones.

“I never felt worried about leaving my house or anything because you don’t take them seriously.”

He continued in reference to the social media trolls: “I did stand up to a couple because you think, ‘You shouldn’t get away with that.’”
