But Kepa has never looked like living up to his huge transfer fee, struggling under both Lampard and his predecessor, Maurizio Sarri.
A source is quoted as saying, though, that Kepa will be staying put.
“He was shocked at being benched but is determined to fight for his future,” they said.
Lampard benched Kepa for Chelse’s 2-2 draw with Leicester on Saturday, choosing to play Willy Caballero instead.
Caballero looked erratic throughout the showdown at the King Power Stadium, however, and may not keep his place for the long term.
