Brad Pitt makes dig at Brexit and mocks royal family news in BAFTAs 2020 speech

Actor Brad Pitt, 56, didn’t attend the EE British Academy Film Awards 2020 last night due to a “family obligation” but this didn’t stop him from hitting the headlines.The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his role as Cliff Booth in the movie.

Brad’s co-star Margot Robbie accepted the award in his absence and read out his speech, which included a flippant dig at Brexit and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“Brad couldn’t be here tonight due to family obligations,” she began.

She then added: “Hey Britain, how did you just become single? Welcome to the club – Wishing you the best with the divorce settlement,” which prompted the audience to laugh. 

The Hollywood star’s  joke comes after United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union on January 31, which has been titled Brexit.

“It was a big stretch.”

At the same event, Brad and his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston sent fans into a frenzy with their cosy reunion backstage.

The former married couple were seen sharing a joke and enjoying each other’s company in front of onlookers.

Later on in the evening, Brad was seen admiring his ex-wife on a screen backstage as she collected her award.
