Donald Trump boost: Democrats’ plot to oust US President BACKFIRES in spectacular way

The US President is set to be acquitted on all charges on Wednesday, the day after he delivers a State of the Union address. It follows a vote by the Senate, where Republicans hold a majority, against calling witnesses or admitting new evidence. A source from the committee to re-elect Mr Trump claimed: “Impeachment won’t drive Trump’s polling numbers up hugely but continues to drive the Democrats’ numbers down and is increasingly shifting independents toward Trump and away from Democrats.”

Dr Ted Malloch, a friend of the President, added: “This ill-advised impeachment process tried to damage the President as much as possible and actually it has ended up helping him enormously.

“He has been able to do a lot of fundraising off the back of this. Some polls show that his popularity has gone up by five per cent since this started.”

Mr Trump was impeached for abuse of power over an allegation that aid to Ukraine was tied to finding dirt on his political rival Joe Biden. He denies this.
