Steph McGovern updates fans after admitting to fears of 'harming' baby during pregnancy

Former BBC Breakfast star Steph McGovern, 37, filmed her new BBC series Easy Ways To Live Well during her pregnancy. She has since given birth to a baby girl with her partner, a television executive.

Ahead of giving birth, the presenter sat down with her co-star Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Doctor Zoe Williams to discuss the best ways to keep fit during pregnancy.

The latter informed the mum-to-be that particular exercises, such as belly dancing, are good during pregnancy and can help with the pain at birth.

Taken aback by the news, Steph queried: “My worry with exercise is harming the baby in someway because there’s so many things you can’t do.

“But giving your belly a good old shake is good for you?”

The presenter added: “I feel good, I feel energised and I haven’t felt like that for a while.”

Steph first announced her pregnancy news back in September.

After this, she told fans she had stepped down from her role on BBC Breakfast after eight years.

From March, she will present her own self-titled show on Channel 4.
