Facebook: This could be the most important thing you do to your social media all year

Facebook has first promised the feature back in 2018. In the intervening years, many assumed the privacy-focused feature had been shelved.

In a post shared on the social network at the time, CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated: “You’ll be able to see information about the apps and websites you’ve interacted with, and you’ll be able to clear this information from your account. You’ll even be able to turn off having this information stored with your account.”

After a limited trial in Ireland, South Korean and Spain, Facebook is now rolling-out the feature globally to users around the globe.

If you’re using an iPhone to access the Facebook app, you’ll need to tap on the three-bar menu button in the bottom right-hand corner of the app. Then tap on Settings & Privacy > Settings and scroll down until you see a heading marked Your Facebook Information. Tap on the (newly added) Off-Facebook Activity.

This shows a summary of all the information gathered by Facebook about what you’re interested in, the deals you’ve been watching, the types of apps you login to, and more. At the top of the list is a button marked Clear History.

Like all major Facebook changes, the roll-out is being staggered. If you don’t see the Off-Facebook Activity option in your app, then you’ll have to wait and try again in a day or so.
