Rosie Perez, the White Men Can’t Jump actress, reportedly made her way into the Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday morning, suggesting she might actually be one of the women to testify against the producer amid his rape trial.
Page Six reported that the Do The Right Thing star inconspicuously walked into the courthouse as jurors heard from Dr. Barbara Div, a forensic psychiatrist who discussed the effects of rape and how it impacts a person’s psychology.
Perez, 55, was called to the stand by prosecutors to back up the testimony from Annabella Sciorra, who claims Harvey Weinstein raped her back in the early 1990s. Joan Illuzzi-Orbon said to the Judge Thursday that Miss Perez would back up her testimony.
At the moment, it hasn’t been revealed whether or not Justice James Burke will allow Perez to testify against him. As most know, Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assault trial will likely be the most high-profile case of the year.
Miss Perez’s inclusion at the last minute may come as somewhat of a surprise to followers of the trial. However, she has increasingly become more involved in political issues. The last time we heard from Perez was when she spoke with reporters from Essence back in October of 2019.
Perez discussed with journalists the importance of Latino and black-Americans working together. The Hollywood star was at the Hispanicize’s Latinavator Award at the InterContinental in Los Angeles, and while she was there, she explained why she thought that Afro-Latins had a different identity and ethnicity.
During a chat with reporters, Perez explained that separating people through even more ethnicities was a “dangerous thing,” because it would only facilitate more division.
Rosie stated that there were lighter-skinned Latinos in North America who don’t actually call themselves by any other name, they are just Latinos, with a much lighter skin complexion.

Rosie Perez is perhaps most famous for her roles in the aforementioned White Men Can’t Jump, Do The Right Thing, as well as her 1993 work in the film, Fearless. She was nominated for the award for best-supporting actress, but unfortunately never won.
