The USGS has announced the powerful earthquake was of a magnitude 6.7. Other affected countries include parts of Syria, Georgia, and Armenia.
The epicentre of the earthquake has been confirmed to have occurred in Doğanyol, Malatya, Turkey.
Fourteen people have been killed and several buildings reduced to rubble after a powerful earthquake hit Turkey.
In the last few minutes, Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority confirmed that the deal toll has risen to 14.
Seismologists believe the quake originated 6 miles (10km) under the ground.
The quake is believed to have struck at 8.55pm local time (5.55pm GMT).
Hundreds of people immediately took to Twitter to check in with loved ones following the news.

Distressing but as-yet unverified video shows collapsed houses.
Emergency sevices are seen already at the scene, while volunteers scramble looking for victims amongst rubble.
Soon after the initial quake, the province was shaken further by a series aftershocks ranging from between a magnitude 5.4 to 3.3.
According to initial reports, the earthquake was felt in provinces as far as southern Adana and northern Samsun, along with northern Syria and Iraq.
Speaking to the reporters, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu initally said no casualties had been reported.
The minister also said several buildings collapsed or sustained damages after following the tremor.
Republic of Turkey Ministry of Interior Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) President Mehmet Güllüoğlu said all emergency and rescue teams in Elazığ and neighboring provinces were dispatched to nearest settlements and it was still too early to talk about casualties or damages.
A USGS statement on their site reads: “Earthquakes of 6.1 to 6.9 magnitude may cause a lot of damage in very populated areas.”
Speaking soon after the earthquake AFAD President Mehmet Güllüoğlu said all emergency and rescue teams in Elazığ and neighboring provinces were dispatched to nearest settlements.
Aftershocks can cause building damage and falling debris that could injure you.
Sitting 2,116m (6,942ft) above sea level, the Turkish town of Doğanyol is thought to be home to approximatelhy 6,500 people.
Earthquake trackers have confirmed Turkey has experienced five earthquakes in the past seven days.
