Peaky Blinders season 6: Will Oswald Mosley meet Hitler in new series? Star’s HUGE hint

Peaky Blinders vieweres were introduced real-life politician Oswald Mosley (played by Sam Claflin) in the fifth series of the historical drama. He squared up against Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) across the season and has now been confirmed to be returning – but what will he be up to in the next outing? Actor Sam Claflin revealed his hopes for the character in the new series.

Will Oswald Mosley meet Hitler in new series?

Sam Claflin made a big impression when he joined Peaky Blinders as Oswald Mosley.

His character was based on the real politician who became the leader of the British Union of Fascists.

While Tommy planned to kill him in the season finale, Mosley survived after his plan was foiled.

Now it has been confirmed the character will be returning for another outing in the Obsessed With Peaky Blinders podcast.

Returning director Anthony Byrne revealed who the major players in the new series will be.

He said: “Obviously Gina (Anya Taylor-Joy) and whoever her family are will make themselves known, Oswald Mosley and some people around him and his world.”

Sam Claflin also gave some hints about the direction he hopes his character will be going in when he spoke to UPROXX in October 2019.

He said: “Not long after the 30s, he married Lady Diana Mitford, who herself was quite a notorious human being.”

There is a possibility Hitler could make an appearance given the new series will be set in 1934, according to writer and creator Steven Knight in an interview with NME.

As well as this, during an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit, he also revealed there will be a new historical figure introduced in season six.

However, Knight has revealed in the past how he doesn’t plan to include Hitler as a character in the show.

Back at launch for season five, Knight told Express.co.uk and other media: “No, I wouldn’t want to portray Hitler. It’s too horrible.”

This is not to say Knight won’t allude to the rise of the figure in Germany as fascism played a huge role in season five.

What’s more, the creator has been cryptic in the past about spoilers for the show, including keeping viewers in the dark over the return of Alfie Solomons (Tom Hardy).

Knight has now confirmed he has written the latest season of the show and production is expected to begin on it very soon.

Peaky Blinders seasons 1 to 5 are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
