Man Utd suffer huge Marcus Rashford injury blow with star ruled out for up to three months

Manchester United have been rocked by the news that Marcus Rashford will face a lengthy spell on the sidelines. There had been optimism that he would play versus Liverpool, but the extent of his injury has now been revealed. It’s not good news for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

According to Henry Winter of The Times, the diagnosis of Rashford is far worse than first thought.

He tweeted at half-time of United’s trip to Liverpool: “Rashford was carrying a single stress fracture in his back, now has a double stress fracture after Wolves game.

“Expected to be out for 2-3 months.

“Also has piece of floating bone in his ankle requiring non-intrusive surgery to remove. Been playing through immense pain to help #mufc”

Rashford was risked by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the FA Cup win over Wolves in midweek, but was forced off with an injury.

The Norwegian hinted that he will be without his star man for a while ahead of kick off against Liverpool in an interview with Sky Sports.

“I wouldn’t expect him to be back in the next few weeks,” Solskjaer said.

“We have a mid-season break and I’m not sure we are going to see him before then, no.”
