Sam Nixon: Crackerjack host hits out at ‘not proper telly’ swipe ahead of CBBC show debut

Sam added: “Our job is to perform the right kind of thing for our six to 12-year-old viewers and CBBC does that wonderfully.”

Crackerjack first aired on the BBC from 1955 to 1984, presented by stars such as Eamonn Andrews, Leslie Crowther, Michael Aspel and Stu Francis.

Sam will be joined on the programme with his colleague Mark who he met on Pop Idol in 2004.

The pair carved out a career together in children’s television as a double act with their friendship going from strength to strength.
