Oscars nominations 2020: Shortlist IN FULL – The top films already through to nominations

Every year, The Oscars brings together the best talent in the world of film for the biggest awards ceremony of the year. Nominees will have heard their names announced a couple of weeks before in another ceremony, which is streamed live to the world. However, some nominees will find their names on a special shortlist – if they have been chosen to compete in nine of the categories.

Those nine categories focus on documentaries, international films, music, short film and some technical aspects of filmmaking.

Many of the films featured in these shortlists serve as an example of the movies The Academy is considering for the more mainstream categories, such as Best Picture, Best Director or Best Original Screenplay.

This year is no different, as some of 2019s biggest movies have been spotlighted.

Movies such as Marriage Story, 1917, Joker and Bombshell have appeared in these shortlists, as well as The Farewell, Jojo Rabbit, Ford v Ferrari (also known as Le Mans 66) and Frozen 2.

Many of these movies will no doubt appear in the other nominated categories, as well as the actors and actress who take part in them.

The nominations for the Oscars will be announced in Los Angeles at 5.18am, Pacific Time (PT).

This is the same time as every year, and will mean the nominations come out at 1.18pm GMT.

Luckily, the nominations are at a far more palatable time for UK viewers than those in the USA.

The Oscars 2020 nominations are available to stream online via the Academy Awards’ official website, as well as on their social media accounts.

As well as this, many media outlets are expected to be reporting on the nominations as they takes place, meaning fans can likely tune in to any news channel to watch it there, or at least find out the nominees.

The Oscars nominations will be announced on January 13 before the ceremony on February 9
