Iran admits it ‘unintentionally’ shot down Ukrainian airliner in deadly blunder

All 176 people on board died. Tehran initially denied it played any role in he disaster but the statement blamed “human error” for what happened. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif tweeted: “A sad day.

“Preliminary conclusions of internal investigation by Armed Forces:

“Human error at time of crisis caused by US adventurism led to disaster.

“Our profound regrets, apologies and condolences to our people, to the families of all victims, and to other affected nations.”

The military said responsible parties will be held accountable.
