Kehlani Sounds Off On Rapper Lexii Alijai’s Tragic Death

This Wednesday, the singer-songwriter, Kehlani, took to her Twitter account to express condolences for the 21-year-old rapper, Lexii Alijai, who tragically died earlier this week. Kehlani and the 21-year-old artist collaborated together on her 2015 song, “Jealous.”

The star tweeted, “just got the worst f**king news ever, my heart is BROKE. F**K.” Paraphrasing the rest of the performer’s social media post, the star claimed she felt a variety of emotions, including confusion, heartbreak, anger, also referring to the rapper as her “little sister.”

Kehlani stated it was brutal to see such a young talent pass away at a young age, claiming that she held a special place in her heart, and it was only a matter of time before Lexii accomplished the goals they had previously discussed.

Additionally, Lexii dropped her own music, including several mix-tapes, one by the name of Super Sweet 16’s. Alijai had other records as well, including feel-less from 2014 and Joseph’s Coat from 2015. Her first full-length record came out in 2017, a 16-song record called Growing Pains.

At the Grammy Awards, her collaboration with Kehlani for the track, “Jealous,” was nominated for the best urban contemporary album. Lexii’s career was just beginning, securing many guest spots on the albums of much bigger artists, in addition to slots at popular music festivals, including Soundset Festival.

Following news of her death, other artists came out to commemorate the star’s tragic death, including Wale and Bas. As fans of hip-hop culture know, this wouldn’t be the first time a rapper and performing artist passed away early.
