As fans of hip-hop culture know, Drake and Rihanna dated intermittently over the years. According to Hollywood Life, the Toronto-native recently sat down with reporters from Rap Radar to dish on a number of topics, including his relationships and career.
Earlier this year, Drake and Chris Brown, the former boyfriend of Rihanna, worked on the song together, “No Guidance,” despite the fact fans considered their relationship as good as dead following Brown’s fight with Rihanna approximately a decade ago.
However, Drake claimed in the interview that he and Chris had moved past all that. Speaking with the aforementioned publication, Drake stated he and Chris had tried to make music before on a number of occasions but there was always a forced vibe. In other words, the animosity toward each other was still there, on some level.
“I think there was always resentment on both sides,” the singer explained. According to the 33-year-old, the start of it was “silly,” because it was rooted in “girl stuff,” however, it turned into a serious problem later on.
Drake stated that since they all moved on for the better, he’s in a position now where he loves and respects Rihanna. Drake claims their relationship is more like family than anything else. Moreover, the Toronto singer admitted he was unsure whether it was a good idea to work with Chris for fear of Rihanna’s response.
The “In My Feelings” performer claims the problem between Brown and Rihanna played a role in their quasi-feud of the past. According to the singer, he thinks Rihanna would find it better to simply move on from the incident and put the “childish s**t” to bed.
As it was previously reported, Drake and Chris Brown got into a fight in 2012 but they’ve since moved on. Since then, Chris and Drake have been spotted hanging out in Miami, Florida, including back in July. Additionally, the rapper invited Chris on stage during a performance in October of last year.

Drake added he always had a ton of respect and admiration for Brown’s talent, and it was nice seeing Brown return the favor by allowing him to sing the main part of the song they performed together. As most know, Drake and Rihanna dated intermittently for seven years too.
