Five tips to lose post-Christmas weight

1. Drink Warm Water

“Warm water is one of the best drinks to drink this holiday season for those watching their weight,” explained Moore.

“Drinking warm water has many health and weight loss benefits.

“Warm water is not only devoid of any unnecessary calories and is soothing for your throat, but it may also boost your metabolism,” she added.

For the best results, Moore recommends slimmers add some freshly squeezed lemon juice to a glass of warm water in the morning, she said: “Add freshly squeezed lemon juice to your first glass of warm water in the morning.

“This will flush out any toxins from your system and jumpstart your metabolism.”

DON’T MISS

2. Stay away from hot chocolate

According to Moore, the worst festive drink a slimmer could consume doing the Christmas season is a hot chocolate as it’s full of “hard-to-burn” calories.

She said: “In order to reduce weight post-Christmas, you need to be staying away from hot-chocolate as it’s full of hard to burn calories.

“Instead why not opt for a low-calorie warm drink like cinnamon with warm water, saffron with milk or black pepper and turmeric milk,” she recommended.

3. Cut Out Alcohol

During Christmas a lot of slimmers let loose and binge on alcohol, but according to Chloe Moore one of the best things for a slimmer to do to get back to their pre-Christmas physique is go on a detox.

She said: “Christmas is the time that we tend to binge on alcohol as well.

“But in your post-Christmas detox, give your liver a break and cut out alcohol from your diet,” she added.

Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol can lead to weight gain, as according to Moore it may lead to poor food choices.

Moreover, a number of cocktails contain high-calorie mixers and sugary syrups.

So slimmers be warned.

4. Eat earlier in the day

Holidays mean that a lot of people like to sleep in, leading to erratic meal timings. However, when looking to shed the winter weight Moore recommends making an effort to eat early.

“If you’re looking to lose that festive weight, it’s important that you eat as early as possible in the day and stay away from high-calorie or high-carb goods in the night,” she warned.

Instead, Moore recommends having all main meals before 7 pm to stimulate digestion and reduce gained weight.

She said: “You may want to finish your dinner before 7 pm and have a small healthy snack like a handful of almonds or some low-calorie soup, in case you feel hungry in the night.”

5. Stock up on fruits and vegetables

What many slimmers find difficult to do is jump back into portion control after the extreme indulgence during the festive season.

A top tip for a slimmer to feel full is to fill up on low-calorie or negative-calorie vegetables in order to fill fuller for longer and load up on essential nutrients and vitamins that help with weight loss.

Moore said: “Include as many vegetables and fruits as you can in your meals.

“Stock up on low-calorie and negative-calorie vegetables and work them into your meals in order to stay full for longer and to load up on essential nutrients and vitamins.”

For slimmers, festive weight can be difficult to lose, so it’s important to set realistic goals.

A final top tip by weight loss and fitness expert, Chloe Moore, is to set realistic goals:

“Set realistic goals,” she said “Make sure you regularly check your weight, keep a watch over the number of calories you consume every day and if you must, indulge in festive foods, in moderation,” she added.
