Of the 100 passengers onboard the Bek Air flight, seven have been confirmed as dead as firefighters rush to uncover any survivors among the plane’s debris.
The passenger plane crashed just moments after take off from Almaty airport in Kazakhstan.
Bek Air flight 2100 disappeared from radar at 7.05am local time.
Pictures show the plane in a wreck, strewn across a piece of land near the capital, its nose end slumped against a dilapidated brick wall.
Some 95 onboard the plane were passengers, while five were flight staff.

According to preliminary reports, there are survivors with emergency services rushing to the scene.
Initial reports say the plane crashed in the Talgar region, although the airport press office say the plane came down near the aiport.
A statement from a Kazakh government spokesman said: “At 7.22am on December 27, Bek Air Flight 2100 (Almaty to Nur-Sultan) lost height during take-off then crashed into a concrete fence.
“It crashed into a two-storey building. Just seven confirmed deaths so far (100 onboard).”
Footage has emerged of rescuers working at the scene.
In it, a woman can be heard calling for an ambulance and the cockpit of the plane is seen wedged into the side of a building.
A special commission will be set up to determine the cause of the crash.
Kazakhstan’s President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev expressed “deep condolences” to the victims’ relatives.
