Beverly Hills 90210 alum Tori Spelling has become notorious in recent years for her money troubles, even though she was raised with massive wealth. Her latest holiday family pic prompted the haters to come out and accuse her of using her children to make a buck.
On Friday, the 46-year-old actress posted Christmas pics that featured Spelling with her husband Dean McDermott and their five kids – Liam, 12, Stella, 11, Hattie, 8, Finn, 7, and Beau, 2 – all dressed in matching pajamas in front of their fireplace next to their Christmas tree.
In the caption, Spelling wrote that they were having a “snow ball” putting the finishing touches on their amazing tree. And, the family was enjoying their chic and cozy family pajamas.
The trolls immediately concluded that the photo was a paid promotion for the pajama brand Sant And Abel, and slammed Spelling for using her kids as product placement for the label.
One asked if Spelling’s kids were getting tired of being directed and produced for paid promotions, but Spelling wasn’t having it.
“The answer is no bc we weren’t paid for anything in this picture. This is our tree and these are their jammies. Is that ok with you?” Spelling wrote in her response.
Another critic asked if there was anything the family wouldn’t do or wear for money. Spelling also replied to that comment, writing that they were not paid for anything in the photo and they are simply fans of the PJs.
Another hater wrote that it was “sad” Spelling uses her children to make money, and she needs to let them make their own decisions. The actress reiterated that they didn’t make money from the picture, and they were not promoting anything. Instead, they were sharing their actual lives, and “this is us.” She added that fans need to make informed judgments.
Spelling does have paid promotion posts on her Instagram page – like a recent post about Brookstone heated blankets – but she always makes it clear when she receives money to share a picture of her using a product.
Tori Spelling opened up earlier this month about her infamous money problems during an episode of her Tori Tried and True web series. She explained that she was never taught how to handle money, and she realizes now how important this skill is.
“I had a business manager since I was 18 years old, so I never handled any of my money,” explained Spelling. ‘Everything, everything, went to them, so unfortunately, I never quite learned about money. Now raising kids of my own, I’m like, “That is so important!”‘
